I have been researching Mexican fungi a lot lately. Basically, I want something to decorate my ‘Dead Forest’ location. It has to be dead, or able to live off the dead. I want flowers, but I want them to seem alive despite their death, and that’s kind of difficult to do with rotten flower petals. Unless you use glitter, and I don’t want to use glitter.
So, I got the idea of fungi, and guess what I found! A fungi that looks like a flower! Somewhat at least. The look of it inspired me tremendously.
Sketches for how the fungi would act in the environment. I thought the fog/dust spray would make for a nice transition in the animatic.
